Ground-breaking innovation projects announced between Japan and Europe

Countries in the Eureka network and NEDO announce nine new projects to support businesses to work together internationally on new technologies.

Brussels and Kawasaki, 1 February 2021 – Following the first call between NEDO, Japan, and countries in the Eureka network, nine projects have been selected for funding.

The projects will provide the opportunity for the businesses to work together on cutting-edge innovation in areas such as clean growth, artificial intelligence, and advanced materials.

This transnational programme is specifically designed to support collaboration between the different countries and will support ground-breaking innovations. The countries involved in the call were Japan, Canada, Czech Republic, France, Germany, Israel, Spain, and the United Kingdom.

Programmes like this are critical to the continued growth of businesses internationally and help bridge innovation across global markets.

The Eureka network has existed since 1985 and has become increasingly global in recent years. This is the first collaborative call between Japan and Eureka.

“Our first experience to launch a multilateral call under Eureka Globalstars turned out to be quite successful,” said Izuru Kobayashi, Executive Director, NEDO. “It dramatically increased the number of applications, and we were able to approve nine projects, all with good prospects for success, by a single call.”
