Architects and engineers rely on sound simulations when designing indoor spaces to avoid echoey, cavernous living rooms or muffled concert venues. With a mission to make the world an acoustic dream, Icelandic deep tech company, Treble Technologies, is redefining how sound is simulated, analysed and experienced.
Treble Technologies’ co-founders, Finnur Pind and Jesper Pedersen, identified a need for faster, scalable and more accurate acoustic simulation tools that fit seamlessly into modern design workflows. To address this, the Icelandic company launched a Eureka project called CBENA in collaboration with Danish partners Henning Larsen Architects and the Technical University of Denmark. Together, they developed a cloud-based acoustic simulation platform that combines wave-based and geometric modelling methods to realistically track sound behaviours and energy.

This advancement laid the foundation for what is now a world-leading simulation engine, powering two of Treble Technologies’ core products, Treble Web Application and Treble SDK, which form a unified ecosystem for sound design and analysis.
Treble Web Application is a browser-based platform designed for acoustic consultants and design professionals. It integrates with building information modelling tools such as Revit and Rhino, allowing users to run high-precision hybrid simulations, analyse results and share auralisations with project stakeholders instantly. Meanwhile, Treble SDK is a Python-based interface that brings Treble Technologies’ simulation capabilities to developers and researchers. It supports large-scale synthetic data generation, machine learning validation, virtual prototyping and integration with external workflows. Whilst the Treble Web Application empowers architects and engineers to simulate and listen to sound directly in 3D models, the Treble SDK provides programme access to developers and researchers for generating data, testing algorithms and running largescale virtual prototypes.
Eureka and the Icelandic Centre for Research (Rannìs) supported Treble Technologies’ early research exploration as it set out to create world-class, pitch perfect solutions. The CBENA project has accelerated the Icelandic company’s transition from researcher to market leader. Today, its commercial-grade simulation engine is trusted by leading firms worldwide for designing better-sounding products, spaces and technologies.
Treble Technologies is moulding the future of sound simulation across the built environment, automotive audio and intelligent audio systems. The company has already made waves, winning the New Nordics Pitch Competition Grand Final at Slush 2022. It is music to Eureka’s ears that Treble Technologies’ solutions are now central to acoustic design, product development and audio artificial intelligence workflows worldwide. Treble Web Application and Treble SDK empower industries to understand and optimise sound before anything is built, improving efficiency, sustainability and quality of life through more accurate acoustic design.
