Brazil’s drive for innovation is fuelled by a bold vision: to spark new business opportunities and forge powerful research collaborations on the global stage. This vision is coming to life through Brazil’s recent partnership with the Eureka network. As one of Eureka’s newest members, Brazil is opening doors for its innovators, empowering them to team up with global partners and co-develop high-impact solutions across a variety of sectors.

Eureka has been instrumental in integrating small and medium-sized enterprises into the European research and development ecosystem. By opening doors to collaboration, knowledge sharing and joint project creation, Eureka is empowering small companies to innovate, connect and thrive.

Our interest in joining Eureka stems from understanding that greater international cooperation for innovation is necessary to achieve our public policy goals of making our economy more knowledge-intensive and our society more just and inclusive.

Luciana Santos – Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation

Vital to Brazil’s ascension as a cutting-edge innovator is the involvement of the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation and multiple of its funding agencies.

One example of a Eureka success story is a project supporting mental health professionals through a digital intervention platform leveraging advanced AI. It offers real-time insights into patients’ wellbeing and allows therapists to personalise treatment and deliver adaptive, data-driven psychoeducational interventions for depression and anxiety.

Brazil has seen how joining Eureka is a fulfilling process, having participated in two Globalstars calls, taking part in its global innovation fora and welcoming Eureka missions to Brazil. The country has been able to advance its cutting-edge research and development infrastructure and intellectual property protection system, amongst other developments.

Brazil’s momentum within the Eureka network is only just beginning. In the coming years, participation in Eureka programmes is set to accelerate, with Brazil actively pursuing new opportunities through the Network Projects programme, both by joining multilateral calls and launching targeted bilateral collaborations with long-standing international partners. Brazil also participated in the EUROGIA Cluster call for energy transition projects, and through this initiative, Brazilian research units and companies co-developed technologies for clean energy, efficiency and sustainability, supported by Brazil’s agile co-funding model and strong public-private network. Plans are also in motion to participate in more Clusters calls and the Eurostars programmes, further expanding Brazil’s innovation footprint.

As Brazil consolidates its role as a Latin American technology powerhouse, its flourishing partnership with Eureka is paving the way for small- and medium-sized enterprises and funding agencies to succeed, showcasing their talent and bold ideas on the global stage and driving forward a new era of global innovation.
